You feel like you head is split into two, the noise of the city can be quite deffening but also when you are in places that there is no noise that to can have the same effect as if you are surrounded by noise. Your hearing becomes heightened and sounds appear louder than they normally are. U relie on touch not just from your hands but from your feet as well, at the edge of the pavement as you cross the road there are special paving slabs which help you to locate where you are.
watching stephanie was not only interesting for her to experience. Krishna and I, her tour guides, giving her directions of as to where to walk 'opened our eyes' too. Stephanie picked up on a lot of things that we was ignorant toward. Alot of the experiences that she missed out on in being blind, were supplemented by her heightened senses. She picked up on smell touch and sounds far more than we did. she stopped at textured paving slabs designed for safety, so in certain circumstances her being blind left her safer than we were.
